Pictures from Helen and David’s wedding

It was a beautiful sunny day at Wimpole Hall.

Guests were greeted by an accordian player and walked through the glorious gardens to the marquee.

They were served champagne on the lawns, taking in the views or playing garden games.

The meal was a mediteranean buffet, followed by traditional Italian meringue cake.

Marquee wedding advice

Posted September 11th, 2012 by cherishweddings and filed in marquee wedding, Uncategorized

Marquee weddings are our speciality.

http://www.catchesides.co.uk/weddings/index.php

They provide a very personal setting for couples and have the bonus of being completely private hire from the week before the wedding to customise and dress as you wish. This of course can add complications and needs careful planning as the site may not be used for weddings on a permanent basis.

If you are looking to have a wedding reception in a marquee on a private site or in your garden etc, then here are some things to consider.

* Access to the site for marquee lorries, catering equipment and toilets.

* level of the floor – will you need a wooden base laying?

* contingency if it rains ( dance floor for reception drinks)

* generator for electricity

* Parking arrangements and signs for the venue

* Security of the site, and any equipment left overnight

* Noise pollution for the local neighbours

* collection of all hire items and disposal of rubbish before the marquee can come down

* order some taxi’s if in a remote area for the end of the evening.

You would be surprised how many brides wanted a wedding in the garden but thought the space was too small. Marquee companies are very good at erecting tents in difficult sites and trees/fountains/steps can always be incorporated into the structure.

Three weeks out from our eldest daughter’s wedding with 170 guests travelling from Australia, South Africa, Hong Kong, many parts of the United States, Germany and of course throughout the United Kingdom I realised expert help was needed…..and at warp speed. The objective was simple….to ensure everyone left walking on air having celebrated the love & marriage of Emma & Mark.

Having phoned Zoe at 8.30am one morning she was with me at 11am that day. For three weeks every day and night from there on in, and at any time, Zoe was prepared to do whatever it  took to accommodate my fastidious & challenging standards, last minute ideas – all whilst being  just a little emotive.

The end result was a weekend of magical life memories that guests referred to as ‘epic’ and the ‘greatest day’ of their lives……..perhaps after one or two glasses of pink champagne.

If you need the very best wedding planner bringing together first class wedding suppliers that really, really care, then make your family event an absolute joy…….appoint Zoe and experience excellence.

Wedding themes

Posted September 20th, 2011 by cherishweddings and filed in marquee wedding, Uncategorized, wedding budget, wedding ideas

Q13 –Are there any themes that work well for budget weddings?

Just about any theme can be used for a wedding, and any creative bride can use an idea for inspiration.

A good place to start is looking at wedding supplier websites to see if they have any special offers or clearance for particular themes.

If you go back to your 3 most important things and then see how ideas can fit with that. A summer marquee wedding could have a garden party feel, with rugs for picnics or a BBQ. A Venue wedding could just have a simple colour theme, which means you can source items from a greater range of shops.

A vintage styled wedding, means you can serve afternoon tea following the ceremony, and leave out an evening reception.

Wedding budget tips – 5

Posted June 27th, 2011 by cherishweddings and filed in marquee wedding, wedding budget

Q5 – How does the timing of the day affect the budget?

If you have the ceremony at 12pm, it is going to be a long day if you also want an evening party. The added costs to be considered might be more reception drinks, more entertainment, feeding the guests twice, photographer waiting longer for the first dance etc.

If you do want an early wedding you could invite all the guests to the ceremony and have a formal reception or tea party straight after the service and no evening reception. Alternatively, you could have a very small ceremony and just book a table at a restaurant for close family. Then have a gap before an evening party with all the guests invited.

If you are happy to have a late ceremony, then you can invite all guests for 5pm and go straight into the reception meal and evening party without needing to provide more food or entertainment.

Garden party wedding

Bunting! Sets a great atmosphere for a marquee wedding.

You can buy it from lots of stores like The White Company, and Laura Ashley.

Or personalise your wedding day by making your own. Better still, delegate to a family member who is good with a sewing machine. Keep it simple, buy fabric that suits your colours and cut into triangles, then sew to ribbon/tape.

You can also get photos printed onto fabric and cut out the images to make fun bunting that guests can really enjoy as well as look pretty.
