Pictures from Helen and David’s wedding
It was a beautiful sunny day at Wimpole Hall.
Guests were greeted by an accordian player and walked through the glorious gardens to the marquee.
They were served champagne on the lawns, taking in the views or playing garden games.
The meal was a mediteranean buffet, followed by traditional Italian meringue cake.
DO wedding planners save you money?
Q11 – Do wedding planners save you money?
They can research and create bespoke lists of suppliers, for example you might ask them to find the cheapest way of hiring a marquee.
Most wedding planners will offer a free initial consultation. After that, where ever possible you should always agree the fees in advance. Often you can use their services and advice, on an hourly basis with rates starting from £45. So, you may be surprised at how affordable using a wedding planner can be.
If they negotiate any deals on your behalf with suppliers they should always pass this reduction on to you, which often covers their fee.
Why not ask for some vouchers as a gift, and see how much money they can save you.
Royal wedding come down
I feel a bit strange getting back to normal now.
I am really struggling to say much more about the Royal Wedding, as it was all very NICE.
It was a perfectly planned traditional, family celebration. Any comments i would make would be about the guests.
Well maybe just a few things……
- I personally like a splash of colour, perhaps for the bridesmaids.
- The bouquet was very small, I would have perhaps had it a little larger
Thats all i think, Royal wedding talk over! Till the next one….. Zara
Back to real weddings, and the sunny weather is really inspiring us at the start of wedding season.
DIY Wedding – cocktails
Just wondering if you ever have a need for smaller events that require cocktails… in a box?
freshly made and delivered direct…

Easy to serve in jugs at garden party/marquee weddings. I would only choose 2 or 3, and they can easily be served by anyone. they have a good range available. Imagine some distant music, and table outside, a mojito aperitif before a delicious meal ( sounds very grown up). This will definitely get your guests relaxed and ready to party later.
Why use a wedding planner?
I did an interview for a website, about why people use wedding planners.
The lady who questioned me had just planned her own wedding and was intrigued as to why people might choose to get help/advice from a third party.
If you are thinking the same thing then read the article, and see what you think.

I think I won her over with all the positives, one of the biggest being – saving yourself stress and even money.
Wedding Planner – Free consultations
All wedding planners offer a free session, so you can meet and chat about your wedding plans.
It is also an opportunity for you to meet in person, as the trust in the relationship will be crucial should you decide to work together.
In any first meeting with a couple, I try to discuss the following things :
*Introduce myself, my website and my background.
Zoe mckeown, Website has all up to date information about the company incl. costs, Working full time as a wedding planner for 2 years.
*Talk about how a wedding planner can help couples plan their day
Helping hand, plan whole thing, advice by email, recommend suppliers, search for venues, negotiate discounts, be there on the day, look after the budget
*Explain our services, and fees
Services can be as much or as little as you need. An odd hour here and there or help to coordinate the whole event. Fees are all agreed in advance, can be hourly or package, all listed on the website. Always discreet and, and on hand behind the scenes whenever you need us.
*Listen to the couples ideas for their wedding day ( okay to be vague)
Proposed dates, ceremony, size of the wedding, themes, styles, venue requirements, must haves, don’t needs, special requests etc
*Informal chat about initial budget( £3000+ ,we work with all budgets )
Begin to prioritise areas for % spend.
* Agree which services they might be interested in, and commit to email intial quote for several options/services. ( usually within 48 hours)
Give me a call, if you are tempted.
If you want to plan your own wedding, perfect! We won’t tell anyone we helped you out with the boring bits.
Wedding day schedule
Just writing a timetable for a wedding this weekend.
I always write out a plan/schedule for weddings. It just acts as a checklist for the day.
But I also say to Brides to remember that things will change and that is fine. Brides often feel like they are in a ‘bubble’ and that they will not be able to make any decisions once they wake up on the day.
This is of course not true, and if you decide you want to wait a little longer before your first dance – then just say.
If you have had enough photo’s taken they don’t be afraid to let the photographer know.
Some timings are there for reasons of catering etc, but most can be shifted slightly.
Please comment about whether you wrote, or will write a plan for your day.
If you would like me to write one with you then give me a call.
Real Wedding photo’s
Congratulations to Ellie and james, 21st Aug 2010.
It was lovely to work with them, and the photo’s are a prefect reflection of the day.
I love the colour choices, for the bridesmaids and the stunning cake.
Best Wishes to them both for a happy future!
Wedding Bouquet preservation
I was asked this week by a mother of one of my brides, where she could get the bouquet preserved as a surprise gift for her daughter on return from her honeymoon. So i thought it might be worth a mention/ reminder if you think you might like this service.
There are several national companies, who will either collect the bouquet or send you a box to pack it in and send to them. This service is best booked in advance though, as obviously you need to send the flowers off in the best condition. It is not a cheap service either, and can take many weeks to be dried and mounted.
So if you think this is something you might like, then start researching now. As prices and delivery requirements do vary.
You can do it yourself , I think, with silica gel. But this needs a bit of research. It might be worth a try though, rather than throwing the flowers away. It is often simpler to dry just a few flowers individually and probably more practical as a keepsake.
If you already have too many things on your ‘to do’ list then, obviously you could always give us a call and this is the kind of thing we can arrange for you.
