Civil ceremonies

If you are not getting married in a church then different rules apply.

The venue must have an approved licence.

The ceremony must not be religious – so no bible readings or hymns.

You will need at least 2 witnesses.

There will be a fee for the registrar, a fee for the venue and a small cost for the certificates.

When you go to give notice of the marriage you will need proof of ID for you both and there will be  a £35 fee.
