Marriage Licence laws

As of March 2015 the time has been extended for applying for a licence to be married.

You now have to give 28 days notice to the registry office and need to have lived in that district for at least 7 days prior.

The laws for church/religious ceremony are different so please check on this link – https://www.gov.uk/marriages-civil-partnerships/giving-notice-at-your-local-register-office

It is also worth mentioning that if you are planning a destination wedding there can be quite a lot of paperwork so it is worth getting in touch with a professional and saving some last minute stress.

You need to book the date as early as you can for a registrar to attend a venue on a Saturday as they will only have certain time slots available depending on how many staff are working.

If you want some more advice or someone to call the registrar and check appointments for you, then please do get in touch. We can walk you through the process and keep you on track to ensure that everything is done in a timely manner.
